In order to make it big in the world you need to have a big dream.

These were sentiments shared by Labasa Muslim College Junior Dux recipient, Mohammed Tazdeeq Ali.

The 17-year-old of Bucalevu, Labasa, also received the best overall student award from Year 9 to Year 13 in mathematics, English, computer and accounting.

The Year 12 student comes from a humble background; his father is a casual labourer, while his mother stays at home, but he has a dream to take care of his family in the future.

“I see how much my parents have given up a lot to give me an education and see that I have the opportunity like they never had in their time,” he said.

“My parents have been my inspiration and motivation to keep on doing my best. This is my second last year here in high school and I look forward to attending tertiary, go out into the bigger world and reach my full potential.

“My family has always put me first and they will always come first for me.”

Dad Mohammed Tauwab Ali said: “Parents should always support their children and see that they get the best.

“I believe that children are a gift from God and with the right upbringing, they can be productive members of society and future leaders of our country.”
