The Fiji Police Force is conveying an early Christmas holiday warning to parents to be vigilant for the safety of their children on roads during this festive season.

Police Director of Traffic Senior Superintendent of Police Mahesh Mishra said: “We are interpreting a busy period now especially on the road, there is lot of movement of people on the road where children will be visiting their families.

“We would like to suggest to parents that they should be very vigilant and they need to be more careful and guide their children properly.”

SSP Mishra said above all people should take the responsibility for their own safety on the road.

“Our temp operation will increase and we will ensure that we maximise the Police visibility and on the same token people should understand that police cannot be everywhere at one time,” he said.

“Police will also take action on people who are causing unnecessary obstruction on our roads and people who will be driving vehicles without driving licences,” he said.
