Letter Of The Month-Bishop Verma Calls For Scrutiny On Churches

Bishop Jason Verma believes that some of the domestic problems today have arisen from false church doctrines.
Families are divided, children deprived from their right to education and the future of our women and girls are ruined because of emotional and physical trauma they experience, he said.
Bishop Verma, writer of the winning letter in October said Government should regulate churches.
“And scrutinise the leaders to see if they have a license to operate, are educated and are ‘not waking up from their sleep’ and becoming leaders,” he said.
His letter titled Cults talks of how ‘religious churches are propping up from nowhere claiming to have a revelation from God’.
The 61-year-old has been an avid contributor to Fiji Sun. He was drawn to writing on current affairs issues at a young age.
“People should be encouraged to write letters because letters to the editor platform gives best known views to public.
“We have so many well educated people but there are a few people who write to advocate their issues.
“I think we need to educate them to express their opinions and views,” Bishop Verma said.
Bishop Verma received a Micromax mobile phone from the Fiji Sun.
