Namosi Club Hoist Bowl Title

Qilai Blues from Namosi were the winners of the Bowl title of the Vutia District School Old Scholars 7s tournament at the village ground yesterday. The Blues edged out a strong Samurai Barracudas side 10-7 in the Bowl final.
Speaking to SUNsports yesterday Blues coach Ulaiasi Tanabure said even though this was the first time they participated in the tournament he was impressed with how far they have progressed.
“We came all the way from Namosi to participate in this tournament and we are happy with our achievement,” he said.
“We had prepared well for the games and training was tough because we did not know what kind of teams we were up against. I can say we had some of our supporters leaving the village early this morning just to come and watch us play today and I thank them for that.
“Our expenses amounted to about $560. That is to come and participate so the boys pitched in whatever they could just to get here. We came to the games with an aim and that is to at least take back home something and I’m glad we came and did just that.”
Tanabure confirmed that they would return to defend the Bowl title next year.
“We will be preparing for next year as we hope to improve on our next meet. We have discussed that and we will be looking forward to next year’s games,” he said. In the Plate final, Stead Rental Waimanu came out 17-14 victors over Niuboto Brothers.
