Sports Unite Community

The community of Wakanisila in Kalabu, Nasinu organised a sports day yesterday at Kalabu Primary School ground with the aim to to bring their youths and children together.
Church steward, Navitalai Niunitoga, said: “Today is a special day for our children because we want them to know that no matter what situation and problem they have associated themselves with, they still matter.”
With the theme ‘One Waka (Wakanisila) No One Left Behind’, Niunitoga says, this get together is also important for the children to know each other well.
“We have youths and children from different backgrounds and church groups and many of them are unemployed and this is one way we can build up their lives,” he said.
The youths organised volleyball, netball and touch rugby competitions in which they awarded the winners.
“There are four villages in Wakanisila. They are Lomanikoro, Naibuluvatu, Delana and Nasoqo so the competition is between these villages,” said Niunitoga.
“This is the first time we having this get together and we are looking forward to more of it,” he added.
The sports’ day was backed by Fiji Sun and Vinod Patel with the support from the Ministry of Youth and Sports.
