Minister for Industry, Trade and Tourism Faiyaz Koya opened the Stand Up Paddleboarding and paddleboarding world championships at the Port Denarau Marina, Nadi last Saturday. The nine-day competition took place at Tavarua Island and is being attended by 246 surfers and paddleboarders from around 30 countries. The Team Relay Races was held on the west coast of Viti Levu, at Port Denarau.
StandUp Paddle (SUP) is a core discipline of the ISA and it is one of the world’s fastest growing watersports. SUP was part of the ISA’s submission for Olympic inclusion at Tokyo 2020.
