Driver In Hospital After Truck Tumbles Down A Slope

A truck driver for Bargain Box (Fiji) Limited is admitted at the Colonial War Memorial Hospital after the truck he was driving tumbled down a slope yesterday in Dakuivuna village in Wainibuka, Tailevu.
A witness at the scene, Apolosi Qalilawa, 64, said the accident happened around 6am while he was outside in his garden.
“I heard the crash then I looked up towards the main road,” Mr Qalilawa said.
“The truck almost broke in two while tumbling down the hill over three times,” Mr Qalilawa said.
He said the truck was on its way to Nausori from Lautoka when the accident occurred.
“I heard someone saying the truck was on its way to Nausori for delivery when the accident occurred,” Mr Qalilawa said.
The truck driver is believed to be from Lautoka.
Police spokesperson Ana Naisoro said the driver was admitted in hospital after receiving treatment and it was fortunate that he escaped serious injuries.
“We are yet to verify the circumstances that led to the accident as investigations are still in its early stages,” she said.
