Police Save French Woman

Police saved a French woman after she was allegedly abducted from a Suva St on Saturday night.
The relieved 27-year-old Embassy of France worker expressed her gratitude to Police after they rescued her.
She could have met a more serious fate if Police had not stopped the car.
She was walking home alone on Gladstone Road when four men got out of a private car and forcefully dragged her into it.
She was on her way to her Duncan Road flat after a night
out, which included a visit to a nightclub.
Acting on instincts, a Police patrol team was travelling on Gladstone Rd, when it noticed a car moving erratically.
The Police officers followed the car and flagged it down.
They found the woman and four men who were smelling heavily of liquor in the car.
Two of the men are understood to be on the run from the law.
There was little resistance when Police confronted the group.
Police Chief of Operations, ACP Rusiate Tudravu, confirmed the incident.
He said a team from the Police Special Response Unit was on normal road patrol when they noticed the “suspicious behaviour” of the driver of the vehicle.
ACP Tudravu said the vehicle almost fell into a drain.
“This is when our men stopped and questioned the driver and other occupants,” he said.
“They saw that the woman was visibly shaken. She was relieved and expressed gratitude with the quick action of Police.”
The men were still being detained yesterday for questioning.
They are likely to appear in court soon.
