RFMF Top Brass Meet Sri Lankan Official
Discussions were on bilateral and mutual relevance.
The Republic of Fiji Military Forces Deputy Commander, Brigadier-General Mohammed Aziz, met Sri Lankan Secretary to the Ministry of Defence, Karunasena Hettiarachchi, last week in Sri Lanka.
Brigadier-General Aziz was accompanied by RFMF’s Land Force Commander, Colonel Sapenafa Motufaga, Captain (Navy) John Fox and Captain Mesake Daunitoko. Discussions focused on bilateral and mutual relevance.
In August last year, Major-General Aruna Perera – a highly decorated Sri Lankan officer – had met with Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama in Suva. Major General Perera had said Sri Lanka would offer to assist the RFMF.
Sri Lanka has a highly trained and experienced military with a record of success in counter terrorism. Mementos were also exchanged between Secretary Hettiarachchi and Brigadier-General Aziz to mark the occasion.
