A woman in her 30s has been charged with setting fire to the Seaqaqa Post Office in September.

A team of Police officers from the Criminal Investigations Department in Suva in the Northern Division were conducting investigations.

The accused has been charged with one count of theft, one count of money laundering and one count of arson.

It is alleged that the former Post Fiji employee had stolen more than $40,000 and had been sending the money overseas not realising she was getting caught in an online scam.

When she failed to get her money back she allegedly set fire to the Post Office to cover her tracks.

She is currently in custody and will be presented in the Labasa Magistrates Court today.
