We’re On Track, Says Coach

The Fijiana XVs are on track in their build-up for the 2017 Women Rugby World Cup qualifiers in Hong Kong next month.
Fijiana XV assistant coach Ro Alivereti Doviverata said yesterday they are focusing on their set pieces this week and is also pleased with the players’ fitness.
The players took a Yo-Yo test which is a standard fitness test where they perform repeated interval runs over a prolonged period of time.
“The fitness of the girls had improved from last week from the Yo-Yo test that we had and we are really pleased about that,” he said.
“Our training sessions will be changing to get the girls sort of adapt to the time zone in Hong Kong. This week we will be touching on set pieces, scrums and line-outs and team organisation as a whole. We are doing weights also in the gym and response from the girls has been really good and positive. Playing Hong Kong and Japan who have been together for a long time will not be easy for the Fijiana. But it doesn’t affect our preparation, we have set plans to counter the two teams and know what to expect.
“We have watched footage of Hong Kong’s games and we have seen their weaknesses and strengths, so we are preparing accordingly.”
Fijiana take on Hong Kong on December 9 and Japan on December 13. The side depart the country on December 4.
