Thirteen-year-old Ayush Raj knew that he had to maintain his sister’s legacy and strive to be the best.

On Wednesday, the Rishikul Primary School student did just that by taking the Dux award just as his sister did some years ago at the same school.

So it was only apt of him to say that his help, support and inspiration came from his elder sister.

Ayush walked away with three recognition certificates, seven trophies and the Dux shield during the school’s prizegiving in Nasinu.

“My sister was also the Dux of school when she was in Year Eight at the same school and that is where I got my biggest inspiration from,” Ayush said.

Sister, Neha Raj, 17, Year 12 student of Jai Narayan College, said she couldn’t have been more proud of him.

“I had challenged him in the beginning of the year to bring the Dux trophy and shield back home just like I did when I was in Year Eight. I am a proud sister that he accepted my challenge and proved it to all of us,” Neha said.

Ayush will join Jai Narayan College next year.
