Lautoka Athletes Rewarded

Eleven sugar city athletes were rewarded for their effort during the Soroptimist International (SI) Lautoka Sports Awards 2016 at Jasper Williams High School on Wednesday.
The athletes, who participated in different sports categories, received cash, trophy, certificate and a medal each.
Chief guest and Lautoka soccer team captain Peni Finau urged athletes to make a mark in whatever sport they participate in.
“I hope you will keep sports as part of your lives as you grow older,” he said.
“The awards night mainly recognises each and every one of you as ambassadors of Fiji through sports.”
Finau congratulated the awardees for accomplishing their goals.
“Those who have been nominated, I congratulate you,” he said.
“Whether or not you’re a winner, it is your ability that commands the respect.”
Meanwhile the 2016 Oceania Water Group Fiji sportswoman award went to Lavina Lagi of Drasa Avenue Primary while the sportsman award went to Tevita Tamani Junior of Lautoka Primary.
The event was sponsored by the Oceania Water Group Fiji.
