The Fiji Sugar Corporation (FSC) could know within weeks who its new chief executive officer (CEO) will be.

This was confirmed by the Permanent Secretary for Sugar Yogesh Karan.

The new CEO will replace Abdul Khan who is presently being investigated following a complaint claiming alleged abuse of office.

Mr Karan said the interviews for those shortlisted for the position would begin soon.

Although Mr Karan could not disclose as to how many candidates were shortlisted for the post, he said those who have been included some from outside Fiji.

“We have a good listing of those to be interviewed and I can say we have some very good candidates and that is both local and overseas,” Mr Karan said.

Meanwhile Mr Karan said the investigations in relation to Mr Khan were allegations and would remain until the outcome.

He could not divulge as to who was conducting the investigations.

“I cannot disclose who is conducting it, but we have given the matter for investigating and I do not know when the investigations will start, or whether it has started or not.”

Mr Khan could not be reached for comments despite several attempts.
