Develop Skills: BMS Best Orator

Every student should learn to develop their orating skills so that it will help build their confidence when speaking in public, says Baseva Tuiwainunu.
The student from Wainunu in Vanua Levu was awarded the best orator during the Ballantine Memorial School prizegiving in Delainavesi on Wednesday.
She said students should start developing their public speaking skills at an early age because this would build self-confidence.
“If you are a good speaker than people will be able to understand issues you are trying to elaborate on, and to be good leaders you need to have the confidence to address the public,” Baseva said.
She advised young people to make use of their talents.
“Whether you are a good speaker, good athlete or whatever, develop on your skills because it will take you a long way in life,” Baseva said.
Being the daughter of a single parent, she said it was quite a challenge, but that didn’t stop her from achieving great things.
“I owe my success to my mother, who has played both the roles of a father and mother to me, this is for her,” Baseva said.
As far as her future is concerned Baseva wants to become a biologist.
“I want to become a biologist because of my love for the environment and this is a field where they lack experts in Fiji,” she said.
“Dream big! I want to become one of the prominent biologists in Fiji and I will be doing this for my mother.”
