Fijian Taekwondo received a timely boost from Handy Homemart yesterday.

The sponsorship of $2,000 is directed to the 7th Oceania Taekwondo Championship which gets underway at the Vodafone Arena, Suva, today.

Fijian Taekwondo president Daniel Moses acknowledged the assistance.

“This is a blessing in disguise for us and we are grateful to Handy Homemart as we hardly get this kind of support.”

Moses said about 200 participants would be participating in the two-day event.

Handy Homemart general manager Shiv Kumar said the company believes in the development of minor sports.

“We sponsored other minor sports like volleyball, surfing and other sporting events. Now we have taken onboard taekwondo all for the same purpose.

“We always look forward to living in a healthy nation and we are taking these small steps and believe this will help in building a healthier nation.

The competition starts at 12pm.
