Health Conscious Dux Aspires To Be Minister for Health

Solomone Qilatabu, Dux of St Bede’s College in Savusavu, aspires to become the Minister for Health someday.
The 18-year-old head boy said he wants to promote healthy living and a clean environment.
And he has already set out a strategic plan that will gear him to be a Member of Parliament.
“I will first become a health inspector and work to advise people on how to keep the environment clean,” Solomone said.
“Then I will focus on ways to reduce Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs) in our country.”
The son of a driver has dedicated his achievements to his late aunt.
“My aunty, Maria Qilatabu, 56, passed away early this month of breast cancer.
“She was my inspiration. She always pushed me to focus on my studies. I really miss her.”
Solomone scored an impressive 372 out of 400 in the internal examinations.
He also received the Venerable Bede All Rounder award and Highest Achiever award in English, Chemistry and Agriculture.
His father, Peterisio Qilatabu, a driver for Cakaudrove Provincial office, said: “I was surprised to know he got the Dux award.
“My wife and I are very happy with the way he has been leading his life and now that he aims to become the Minister for Health, we hope and pray that God grants it.”
