Dux Award Surprises Ravudi

Her parents were away in India when she sat for exams; Dad had cardiac surgery.
Caught by surprise!
That’s how Ana Ravudi Kadi felt when she was named the Dux of Nuku District School in Nausori on Wednesday.
“I was really surprised because I couldn’t believe I could get the Dux Award due to the situation I was in,” the 13-year-old said.
Both her parents were in India when she sat for her exams and Ana spent most of her time thinking of her dad’s cardiac operation.
“Even though they ring every day to wish me well, it was still hard for me because most of the time I think of my dad,” said Ana.
“I thank God for his support and my grandparents who were there for me when my parents were away,” she said.
Ana also walked away with other awards – best sportswoman, highest mark in Fiji Eighth Year Examination, best all rounder, first place in Year 8 and head girl leadership award.
Her mother, Mereani Kadi, said her daughter deserved the award.
“She is a very strong and a hardworking girl. Despite the fact that we were not here during her exams, she still came out the best,” said Mrs Kadi.
“I wasn’t surprise when I saw her getting the award because I know how much she has sacrificed for this year.
“Her Dad was in a critical condition and we thank God that all the operations came out successfully.”
Ana is the eldest in the family of four and she will be joining Adi Cakobau School next year.
