A big crowd gathered at Suva’s Albert Park yesterday during the Fiji National University’s (FNU) 2017 enrolment launch drive.

Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama encouraged the students to use the event to explore all options open to them because FNU had a lot to offer.

“Choose something that you are passionate about. Don’t just do what your parents and friends tell you to do. Do what you think is right for yourself,” he said.

“The point is that you can only be successful in life if you are passionate about what you do and can have the necessary drive to achieve your ambitions and dreams. Then life has a habit of choosing things for you.

“So choose wisely as you move around the various stalls.”

Saheela Sukul who is pursuing a Certificate II in Hairdressing and Beauty Therapy, said: “The programme was not offered at the University of South Pacific, that’s why I took up this course at Fiji National University. I enjoyed FNU, and its fun. We enjoy every bit of it especially the music and practicals.”

Faria Begum, a media and journalism student said the duration of her course in FNU was shorter compared to USP.

“I am enjoying the course and the lectures are very good. I get a lot of exposure towards what I am studying and I advise students to join FNU because it is more practical based and you get to advance your skills in every areas of study,” she said.

There was entertainment available at the grounds, and many prospective students had assembled for enrolment.
