Akbar: Compassion Is Important
Minister for Health and Medical Services, Rosy Akbar

Compassion is one of the most important and central ingredient of our service delivery, Minister for Health and Medical Services Rosy Akbar told nurses yesterday.

Ms Akbar was opening the Nursing Supervisors and Management Day Symposium at the Waterfront Hotel in Lautoka.

“With compassion comes dedication, with that comes responsibility and we are not dealing with just one group of people, we are dealing with everybody,” Ms Akbar told more than 70 practitioners.

“Also for that, care and compassion should be the core values that we hold at the Ministry of Health and especially for our nurses.

“How you maintain yourself, how you deliver your service, how you mold your team is very important for you to live up to the expectations that the public has from us when it comes to delivering services that we are mandated to do regardless of where the person comes from, the person’s age, gender or race,” Ms Akbar told more than 70 practitioners.

She also reminded them to be health-conscious.

“Do exercise on the need for us to live a healthy lifestyle to prevent NCDs and it is everybody’s responsibility as it starts from our homes,” she added.
