FSC Labasa Sells About $2.3M Worth Of Electricity

The Fiji Sugar Corporation (FSC) Labasa Mill sold about $2.3 Million worth of electricity through its cogeneration plant.
FSC Labasa mill general manager Karia Christopher highlighted this during the Australia Pacific Technical College (APTC) graduation at the Friendly North Inn in Labasa yesterday.
“In 2015 the revenue from the power export was $3.5m and this year after the crushing season ended it amounted to $2.3m,” Mr Christopher said.
“The revenue difference is due to the lesser rate given by FEA.
“The cogeneration was commissioned last year.
“We are now internationally recognised on par in terms of the running time of the mill,” he said.
Mr Christopher also said the breakdown and stoppage time had reduced in the past season.
“Looking at over the past six years the mill performance has improved,” he added.
Mr Christopher said the Fijian Government has placed priority to revive the sugar industry and return it to its former glory.
“Several reforms had been implemented and it had been useful.”
