Don’t Say Shut Up To Your Kids, Says Tuinaceva

Quality education starts from home, says acting Northern Divisional youth officer, Taniela Tuinaceva.
Gone are the days where parents could say ‘shut up’ to their children, Mr Tuinaceva said.
He made the comment during the closing of an empowerment programme attended held at Veiseaseavula settlement in Lekutu, Bua, attended by members of the Lekutu Multiracial Youth Club.
Mr Tuinaceva said parents should respond to their children’s questions sincerely.
“Parents should provide an answer to their children, otherwise they will go out of their way to get answers from someone else,” Mr Tuinaceva said.
He said quality education was a sacrifice which must start from home.
According to the latest statistics, Mr Tuinaceva said Bua is one of the three least developed provinces in Fiji.
He encouraged the participants to make a change in their families and communities.
“This is the first multiracial youth club in Vanua Levu that I have found to include a blend of different races, and it is so exciting to note that you know each other’s language,” he said.
“To the parents, I would like to advise you to create a positive and encouraging environment for your children so that they can develop and be the change.”
Zoya Nisha, 18, of Lekutu, Bua, thanked the Ministry of Youth and Sports for organising the programme.
