Hockey challenge series starts today

The Australian Country men and women teams will take part in the annual Hockey Challenge Series in Suva today.

The competition is between the Australian and the Fijian High Performance squads.

The Australian teams are made up of Country representatives selected from all Australian Hockey states and will be playing against the National Women’s HPU squad of 24 players – 18 of which will be selected each day for competition for the Tai Trophy.

The Men’s HPU team will be fielding two teams – Presidents and the Fijian Warriors.

The players will be vying for selection in the national team for the 2017 Hockey World League round two in Bangladesh in March.

Players from Ba, Lautoka, Nadi and Suva will be playing in the men’s teams o the Fiji President’s and Australian Country will be competing for the Hector Trophy.
