Verata House won the 24th Druavesi Golf tournament carding a total score of 111.1 points on Friday at the Fiji Golf Club.

Rewa House came second on 115.25, Bau House on 117.13 and Tovata House 119.6.

Verata House was captained by former Reserve Bank of Fiji governor Savenaca Narube who flew from the Solomon Islands to compete in the tournament.

A total of 15 teams and 60 golfers took part with 10 teams from the Queen Victoria School Old Boys (QVSOB) fraternity.

QVSOB Druavesi Golf Tournament committee chairman Cama Raimuria said it was a successful tournament.

“A very good turnout with more young members of the association participating,” Raumuria said.

“The members of the 2016 QVS Deans rugby team and Year 12 students of the school participated for their respective houses.

“As usual, we like to give back to the community and that is where the funds will go.

“The last five years, we had been using the funds raised to sponsor a female student Railala Sigalima, a current Year 11 student at Dudley High School, who lost her father in 2013.

“We look forward to next year’s event.”

Other schools who participated included Ratu Kadavulevu School Old Boys (RKSOB) who was led by veteran journalist Netani Rika, Suva Grammar old Scholars let by Marika Naupoto, Marist who was captained by William Naisara and the Veiyanuyanu team.
