Hearts Sewn For CWM Hospital Children’s Ward

To decorate Colonial Memorial War (CWM) Hospital children’s ward this Christmas, Mira Kwon is helping children to sew fabric-made hearts.
The hearts sewn by children will be used to decorate at the CWM Hospital children’s ward.
She was at the Fiji Museum yesterday where children sewed more hearts for their decoration.
The 56-year-old said: “Na Koro market was cancelled for this month. Therefore, I came to Museum so that children can get involved in this activity and learn artwork.
“So far we have made 200 hearts and we will be meeting on Wednesday to make some more hearts and we will then decide how we will be decorating the CWM Hospital children’s ward with this hearts.
“One of our team members will donate some Christmas trees to the CWM Hospital children’s ward and we will then decorate the trees with the heart which we sew.”
Ms Kwon said this was the first time she came up with this initiative.
“We look forward to decorating the CWM Hospital children’s ward and see smiles on their faces,” she said.
Ms Kwon is originally from South Korea and has been residing with her family in Fiji since 2007.
Since 2008 she has been running quilting classes at her home in Raiwaqa, Suva.
