MHCC Christmas For Cancer Survivors

After surviving brain tumour for the past two years, Lagilagi Lockington is glad to be able to spend another Christmas with his family.
The 16-year-old student from Marist Champagnat said he was very excited to spend his Christmas with his grandparents and family.
With a bright smile on his face, he wished that he could go to New Zealand to see the Kiwis at the zoo. The young cancer survivor from Cunningham is among the 24 children from WOWs Kids Fiji who attended the special annual dinner organised by the management of MHCC yesterday.
Lagilagi was glad to spend the evening with his mother and sister, along with a few members of the Fiji Cancer Society and WOWS Kids Fiji.
Deepak Chand, Assistant Complex manager of MHCC said the special initiative was possible through the sponsorship of a few local business houses.
Unfortunately, he said out of the 32 kids who were invited, only 24 showed up. But he is thankful that the kids were able to enjoy with the gifts and prizes that were handed out by Santa Claus at the event.
“This dinner was specifically for the children who are cancer survivor,” said Chand.
He said the dinner was to remind the children of how important they were and to celebrate the joyous event as a family.
Chand said another special Christmas dinner will be held tomorrow for children from various orphan homes.
