Ben Ryan will be in Cape Town this week to cheer on the Vodafone Fijian 7s team as they aim for a successful finish in the first leg of the 2016-17 World Sevens Series.

Ryan tweets “Lost my voice cheering boys on yesterday (Sunday).  I’m pretty rubbish being a spectator! Off to CapeTown7s #veilomani.”

After failing to defend their title in Dubai last weekend, the Nacanieli Cawanibuka- coached side is raring to grab the Cape Town title after lapse of 11 years. Fijians last won the South Africa 7s in 2005 beating Argentina 21-19 at Outeniqua Park.

Fiji is in Pool B with France, Kenya and Japan. Dubai winners South Africa is drawn in Pool A with Australia, USA and Russia. England is in Pool C alongside New Zealand, Argentina and Canada.

Wales, Scotland, Samoa and invitational team Uganda are in Pool D.

Following the Dubai 7’s, South Africa lead the 2016/2017 series standings on 22 points, Fiji second (19), England third (17), Wales (15) and Australia (13).

Fiji play Japan in the first match on Saturday at 11:05pm (FJ), Kenya at 2:26am Sunday morning and play France in their final pool match at 6:26am.
