A Labasa man charged with possession of an illicit drug was further remanded yesterday after failing to meet the demands of bail by the Labasa Magistrates Court.

Feroz Khan who appeared before Magistrate Thushara Thennakoon had been granted bail but failed to provide two sureties.

Magistrate Thennakoon said the two sureties were to pay $2,500 each and for Khan to pay $2,000. The bail conditions stated that he could not travel out of Labasa and his sureties could not be his parents.

While requesting for bail, his lawyer Ami Kohli told the court that while Khan had previous convictions, the accused had shown improvements.

When asked where his sureties were, the accused said he did not have any at that moment and so he was told to be remanded until he provided them.

Khan was arrested last week during a Police raid in Siberia after he was found in possession of dried marijuana leaves.

The case will be called on January 24 next year for Khan to make his plea.
