The Taito Bula coached- Nailaga FC is eyeing an upset win in the Vodafone National Club Championship 2016 at the FFA Academy ground, Ba this weekend. The side are laced with Ba reps like goalkeeper Misiwane Narube, striker Saula Waqa and defender Patrick Newa. The side are in Group B alongside Bureta Football Club (Suva), and Greenstar Football Club (Nadroga).

“This is a great pool and we are really looking forward to this tournament,” said former Ba and national star striker Taito Bula.

Bula wants to create history with a side which features his three sons Tomasi Osborne, (striker), Luke Savu (central midfielder) and Taito Bula Jnr (left back). He has won all the trophies in the region with Ba and the national team but is yet to win the NCC.

“This time I want to win this tournament with these boys. Our preparation has been going well and the boys are optimistic of a good run.”

The side will play in the NCC for the third time in a row and have progressed gradually tdespite failing to reach the elimination round. Nailaga FC play Bureta FC at 4pm in their opening match on Saturday.

Other pool draws – Group A: Civic Football Club, 4R Electrical Football Club, Kulukulu Youth Football Club, Group C: Agriculture Football Club, Press Football Club, Lokia Football Club and Group D: Gandhi Football Club, FC City United, Blues Football Club.

 

Saturday fixtures: 11am Bureta FC v Greenstar FC (GB), 12.15pm Lokia FC v Press FC (GC), 1.30pm Civic FC v 4R Electrical FC (GA), 2.45pm Gandhi FC v FC City United (GD), 4pm Bureta FC v Nailaga FC (GB), 5.15pm Agriculture FC v Lokia FC (GC).
