Unfinished Business

Vodafone Fijian 7s forward Sevuloni Mocenacagi is highly likely to miss the second round of the World Sevens Series in Cape Town, South Africa, this weekend.
This was confirmed yesterday by interim head coach Naca Cawanibuka saying that Mocenacagi has yet to recover from a swollen foot.
“Sevuloni was playing with a swollen infected toe last weekend and he did well,” Cawanibuka told SUNsports.
“I am resting him as his foot is a bit swelled up. Others have recovered well but the hunger for this week is adding that psychological shift to prepare well. The boys are calm and relaxed and ready to start a fresh week of preparations. Deep inside we have unfinished business but we’ll focus on preparation detail and we need to cover well and engage ourselves as a unit.”
The Vodafone Fijians are grouped alongside France, Japan and Kenya which Cawanibuka believes the need to work smartly.
“These are all tough teams and we respect them, we are not taking anything for granted so we must work hard and smart,” he added.
Former head coach Ben Ryan will also be analysing the team’s performance and will be advising them on weak areas that needs to be addressed.
“Ben has got his own work he’s doing with HSBC and we will have a little bit of a catch-up, we do keep in touch and talk about the game and areas we have to work on.”
Cawanibuka also had a discussion with head of 7s referees Paddy O’Brien on Tuesday. The side also had team meeting to discuss the goals and plans for this weekend.
“We had a meeting with Paddy on a few areas we’d like to discuss from last weekend and things to improve on for this weekend.”
Fiji play Japan in their first match on Saturday night at 11.05pm (Fijian time), Kenya at 2.26am Sunday morning and France in their final pool match at 6.26am.
