The Lautoka Cancer Society hosted its pre-Christmas party, organised by MHCC management and staff, at the Sugar Cane Growers Hall in Lautoka yesterday.

MHCC administration officer, Nitisha Chand, said that 20 children, between the ages of three and 18 were part of this year’s celebration.

“20 names were given by the Lautoka Hospital from which only 10 attended as others were being treated at the hospital,” Ms Chand said.

She also said this was a tradition which they had been following for the past nine years now.

Ms Chand said each child received a $20 MH voucher, stationeries, bags and books.

She added that this is a tradition that they followed every year because they want these children to be part of this festive season celebrations.

Alisi Naborisi, mother of 11-year-old Vilimoni Dranivesi, said her child was diagnosed with Leukaemia last year and this was the second time they had been part of this event.

She said the event has been a positive change for her son giving him a break from the difficult times he has been through.

“This types of events helps children who are suffering from cancer, like my son, to emotionally cope with their situation.

“He was very excited about the gifts he received today,” said Ms Naborisi.
