A bus driver charged with rape was further remanded in custody by the High Court in Suva yesterday.

The case was called before Justice Achala Wengappuli.

On November 12, it is alleged that Sanjay Naidu had raped a 12-year-old girl, who was a passenger in the bus he was driving.

In yesterday’s appearance, the state lawyer served disclosures and sought time from the court to file information.

The alleged offence took place during Naidu’s last trip of the day.

He is alleged to have committed the offence at one of the bus stops along Princes Road, Tamavua.

The victim had boarded the bus from Nausori. She fell asleep and missed her stop.

The case was adjourned to January 21, 2017, for mention.
