More Facilities

Athletes and teams will soon enjoy more accessibility to game venues and accommodation in the next five years.
This came after the Fiji Sports Council (FSC) board selected AAPi Design Architect director Peter Rankin to be the master planner for the project yesterday.
The Master Plan draft will be submitted to the FSC board after three months.
FSC chairman Peter Mazey said it’s an exciting journey for Fiji as they will now utilise all FSC vacant 15 acre land around Laucala Bay area to build sporting facilities and accommodations.
“Right around the FSC ground, there is a lot of land. The board decided the way forward was put together a Master Plan, on the utilisation of our unused land, which can be put to use by sports in Fiji.
“We are hosting international events here and for it to grow we need to have accommodation and proper sporting facilities. We have advertised for expression of interest from people who put the master plan together and prepare it for us.
“AAPi Design Architect Director Peter Rankin will be the master planner for the project. He did the design work for Albert Park and he also did some work during preparations for the 2003 South Pacific Games,” Mazey said.
This is the first time for Rankin to be involved and is excited.
“We are very excited with this opportunity after being a long-time resident of Suva,” Rankin said.
