Westpac Fiji Labasa branch customers chuckled after their general manager Brett Hooker revealed how the business started.

During the cocktail on Wednesday night, he said Westpac Fiji has a very long history here and they are very proud of that history.

“We have been in Labasa since December 11, 1978 when we opened the doors from the N.Keshav Building in the heart of the town under the banner of Bank of New South Wales,” Mr Hooker said.

“With the growth in business, we upgraded our premises and have been at the current site since 1981.”

Mr Hooker said Labasa also serviced the Savusavu Service Centre before they opened a full time branch in Savusavu.

“And today, Labasa branch is still a hub and looks after all commercial and loan customers for Savusavu and Taveuni,” he added.

“This is a great town and so much going on in tourism, construction, natural resources and agriculture to name just a few.”
