The Vodafone Fijian 7s team won their Cape Town 7s pool opener by beating Japan 33-7 last night.

The Osea Kolinisau led-side fought back from a 7-0 deficit with Jerry Tuwai and Setareki Bituniyata scoring tries as they took a 12-7 lead at halftime.

Forward Jasa Veremalua extended the lead to 19-7 soon after the breather with Kolinisau’s conversion going in.

Then it was Joeli Lutumailagi’s turn to run in their fourth try before Kitione Taliga scored the final try.

 

 

Other results

In a major upset a fired-up Kenyan side thumped France 33-14. Making an impressive start are Scotland who fought back to beat Samoa 21-19.

Wales scored an easy 29-7 win over minnows Uganda.

The Tomasi Cama Jnr- coached New Zealand stepped on the gas as they thumped Argentina 26-12 while England scored a runway 33-10 win over Canada.
