Big Task Ahead For Fijiana XV

The Fijiana XV face a mammoth task of beating Japan on Tuesday to keep their hopes of qualifying for next year’s World Rugby Women’s Rugby World Cup alive.

The Lailanie Burnes- captained side suffered a 45-7 loss to Hong Kong last Friday night. And if they again lose to Japan at King’s Park then it would wrap up the qualification for the Asian sides who will meet on Saturday at the Hong Kong Football Stadium.

The hosts are in high spirits following encouraging wins over Kazakhstan in their two training friendlies last month.

Fijiana XV coach Seremaia Bai is also keeping his squad focused on their own game.

“We want to enjoy ourselves but we are sticking to the basics,” he said.

“You just need to win your own set-pieces, it is nothing fancy.”

The Fijiana XV before this year hadn’t played a Test match in 10 years and indiscipline was their downfall with three first-half yellow cards and poor tackling.
