We need to develop strategies to enhance the capacity of our companies and industries to innovate and create value.

This was highlighted by the CEO Investment Fiji, Godo Mueller-Teut at the 2016 Westpac Prime Minister’s International Business Awards at the Sheraton Fiji Resort on Saturday night.

Mr Mueller-Teut said: “The Prime Minister’s International Business Awards celebrate Fijian business success by providing an opportunity for Fijian businesses to benchmark performance, build capacity, inspire to innovate, showcase service excellence, support job creation and boost employee morale.

“We hope that the winners of the 2016 Westpac Prime Minister’s International Business Awards will go on to even greater-things and become and inspiration for others across the country.

“The entries for tonight’s awards have shown significant accomplishments in their respective fields and industry sectors. They exemplify the importance and benefit of a steadfast commitment to entrepreneurship, leadership and social responsibility.”

The CEO added businesses must embrace technology as their main source in promoting products as the world is becoming digitally connected daily.

“In the competitive world we live in, we cannot afford to be complacent, we must focus on economic growth, which in turn leads to employment opportunities and improves social and community well-being,” he said.

“The world is becoming more digitally connected every day and we must embrace technology as key in promoting products and services and generating loyal customers domestically, regionally and internationally.”

He said not only the leading business houses give Fiji its character, but the small and medium sized businesses that play a key role in sustaining and driving the economic growth and ensuring that Fiji remains the commercial, innovative and creative heart of the Pacific.

Mr Mueller-Teut acknowledged every business that entered the awards, the sponsors and the independent panel of judges.
