Defending Vodafone National Club Championship winners 4R Electrical Ba are on track to defend their title. The Imdad Ali coached- side were the first team to book a spot in today’s playoffs at the Fiji FA Academy grounds in Ba.

In an expected thriller, they take on Bureta FC of Suva in the first semi-final while in the second semi-final, Lautoka’s Press FC face newcomers Aaak Rentals sponsored Blues FC.

Fiji Football Association media officer, Avikash Chand told SUNsports yesterday that they are expecting a cracker in today’s semi-finals.

“It’s going to be tough as we are down to the top four teams,” he said.

“Both the semifinals are going to be worth watching as the country’s top clubs are going to battle it out.

“These clubs have performed really well in the championship.”

Chand said apart from the four semifinalists, other clubs have also played well.

“For a small club like Kulukulu FC they displayed very good football. Also Blues FC put on a great performance as they scored a great comeback in their pool game today.”

Blues FC had fielded Nadi district rep Shafim Buksh and Futsal rep Mohammad Shamil while reliable defender William Valentine was stopped from playing by Fiji FA officials.

Meanwhile, Nailaga FC and Greenstar FC failed to turn up to play in their scheduled match set for 1.30pm.

Chand said the decision to penalise the two clubs for their failure to turn up would be made by the Fiji FA Board.

“There are rules for such situations. The Fiji FA board will have to meet and decide on the fine to be imposed on the clubs,” he said.
