A team needs to prepare physically, mentally and spiritually to be successful, says Viliame Naveni.

The Semo native was named Nadroga Rugby best male volunteer in 2016 during the awards night on Tuesday.

He’s been involved with the champion side for 24 years and always advice the players to represent the province with pride.

“Being involved with the team for 24 years, I’m so thankful to God for blessing me with this award.

“I always make sure to give the players the right advice and that is to think of the vanua o Nakuruvarua and their families,” Naveni said.

The 63-year old is proud to be associated with the champions of Fijian rugby and he also thank God for giving him a talent as a team adviser.

“At this age it’s a challenge to travel around but I thank God for his guidance and giving me the strength to work with my provincial team.

“I know he has plans for me and come next year I would love to continue with this winning side,” Naveni added.

After receiving his best male volunteer award on Tuesday night Naveni, said it was his best Christmas gift ever.

“As we are approaching Christmas this award is a perfect Christmas gift for me,” he added.
