Fijian Delegation Takes Philippines TESDA Tour

Usamate team examines Philippines technical education and skills development authority processes, programmes
A Fijian Government delegation headed by the Minister for Employment Productivity and Industrial Relations, Jone Usamate, visited the Philippines Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) to examine their processes, programmes, experiences and development plans in technical education and skills development.
Mr Usamate said the visit was vital to the Fijian Government in making comparisons with the Philippines in the areas of technical education and skills development.
“The Philippines TESDA shared their experiences in providing training in the transition from informal to formal economy, vocational training and forums, provision of Training Centres, community based training, training of trainers and accreditation and competencies training,” said Mr Usamate.
He said the visit also enabled the meaningful exchange of ideas, processes and experiences in the vocational education and skills development aspect in relation to the work of the Ministry of Employment in Fiji in employment creation, promotion and skills development.
Mr Usamate was accompanied by his Permanent Secretary, Salaseini Daunabuna, Deputy Secretary, Vilimone Baledrokadroka, and Fijian Ambassador to Japan, Isikeli Mataitoga.
