This was confirmed by council special administrator, Jasper Singh.

“The park is complete now, opening sometimes next week and we have given our submissions and reports to the Ministry awaiting their feedback,” Mr Singh said.

Mr Singh said a lot of facilities would be available for the people of Lami in a short time.

“The upgrade works on the park is in three sections. There is a senior citizens Park which has sitting facilities for the elderly facing the harbour,” he said.

“There is podium and facilities used by everybody and the children and youth area where you have a volleyball court and play area for children,” he said.

“We also have a BBQ area that people can use and a viewing tower as well. There is also a canteen here.”

He also urged the public to refrain from vandalism on the property.

“It has taken a lot of time planning and money spent therefore people need to use the park keeping in mind the disadvantages of vandalism,” Mr Singh said.

“We request the public also, not to litter as this will give a very ugly look as well.

“The park is right beside the main highway and maintaining cleanliness is a priority.”
