Solo parent and taxi driver Ugend Singh said yesterday he was worried about losing his potential earnings.

He said three downed power poles at Baulevu, Nausori, had prevented him from operating. A landslide had felled one pole which in turn pulled down two others.

Mr Singh, of Koroqaqa, was concerned about providing his weekly income.

“Also I have to provide for my family as I am the only bread winner in my family.

“My wife passed away a few years back and I have three children who are still studying, whom I have to support.”

“During his festive season and rainy weather, people prefer to travel in the taxi, but I am stuck here in this situation and I am not able to do anything,” Mr Singh said.

Many residents of Baulevu were not able to travel to work because of the blocked road.

Bimlesh Gounder, 38, of Kasavu village in Baulevu, Nausori said this was the first time he had seen the electric posts down.
