Expect More Rain This Weekend: Weather Office

Expect more rain and threat of flooding this weekend.
But the chance of Tropical Depression 04F developing into a cyclone and coming close to Fiji remains low.
That was the forecast from Fiji Meteorological Services director, Ravind Kumar, yesterday. Mr Kumar said there was a 20–50 per cent chance of the TD04F forming into category one cyclone.
TD04F was expected to turn South to SouthWest as it slowly moves away from Fiji.
“On the projected path, the centre of system is expected to remain over open waters and may pass greater than 250km West of Nadi today,” Mr Kumar said.
He said the flood alert for Rakiraki had been cancelled. However, he said the Central Division and most parts of the Eastern Division would continue to experience wet weather as a result of outer rain bands.
He said the concern for now remained the heavy rainfalls associated with flooding, strong and gusty winds. A strong wind warning remained in force for all land areas in Fiji.
A flood warning remained in force for:
low lying areas in Waimanu Station, Naitasiri;
low lying areas and areas adjacent to Rewa Bridge station and downstream of Nausori Town; and
Low lying areas and areas adjacent to Nabukaluka station, Naitasiri, and areas downstream of Nabukaluka station.
