IBO world super-middleweight champion Renold Quinlan has accepted to defend the title against challenger Chris Eubank Jnr on February 4, next year in London.

ITV has entered the pay-per-view arena by screening Renold v Eubank Jnr’s world title clash.

Eubank is moving up from middleweight to challenge Quinlan, who is of Fijian extraction but resides in Sydney, Australia.

Quinlan’s head coach Lepani Wilson told SUNsports they have sealed the deal and are now working towards their world  title defence.

“There’s a lot of hype about Eubank in London but for us we will take on what is put on the table,” Wilson said.

Eubank has returned from an extended break in Dubai following recuperative treatment for a shoulder injury. The 27-year-old’s step-up to super-middleweight, after being denied a world middleweight title by his loss to Billy Joe Saunders, suggests he may be finding it more difficult to make the lower weight as he matures.

Eubank is delighted to be appearing on ITV ‘who first showcased my father 26 years ago’.

He adds: “I intend to deliver more of what my father did: speed, power, accuracy, showmanship — maybe with even more swagger — and the will to fight and beat the best of the best.”

Quinlan won his title with a huge upset by knocking out the well-regarded Daniel Geale in two rounds two months ago.

Quinlan said: “I’m not scared of anyone. I’ll take on the best when ever and where ever. I don’t want to just be Australia’s greatest boxer; I want to be the world’s best. I’ll travel across the world to fight anyone who puts their hand up to fight me. I’ve been waiting my whole life to prove I’ve got what it takes, this is my time and Eubank Jnr is going to know this.”

Wilson also confirmed that all their proposed fight has been deferred as they now the focus on the Eubank fight.
