Eight suspects are being hunted for allegedly stealing a 600kg safe from the Lotus Foreign Exchange Limited outlet in Marks Street, Suva on Thursday.

“We are looking for eight men alleged to have committed the offence,” Police spokesperson Ana Naisoro said.

Lotus Manager Fiji Operations, Ajay Verma, said the suspects allegedly used pinch bars to break into the foreign exchange outlet.a

“According to my assessment, more than two men were involved in the robbery because the safe weighs around 600kg, maybe a big truck was parked outside while the burglars were inside trying to get the safe out,” Mr Verma said.

Ms Naisoro said they couldn’t confirm the amount of money because investigations were continuing.
