The Coastal Roos team plan to defy all odds during the Mana Whey Coral Coast 7s tournament at Lawaqa Park next month.

This is after the team for the first time have qualified to play in this inaugural tournament and have already marched into camp to prepare for the tournament at Lawaqa Park, Sigatoka.

Team captain Michael Pita said, “We have already started preparation since we have only three weeks left until the big day.

“This is also a big boost for the boys especially for this whole season since most of us had to switch from rugby 7s to league.”

He said, “With the preparation already underway from last week, the challenge is to prepare well and give a good showdown against overseas teams as well as the locally renowned teams in Fiji.

“The team has about three weeks left, so we are preparing well for our game but also our trip to participate in the Jason Annear Memorial 9s tournament in Australia.

“We are looking forward to the tournament as we believe nothing is impossible if you begin with God.”

The side have the likes of Fijian Residence rugby league reps like Jovilisi Naqitawa, Napolioni Waqanivalu, Mosese Naliva, Simon Wise, Nasoni Navure and Iosefo Saladrau.

Pita said, the team are currently camping at Laselase village and conduct their gym session from 10am and ground work at 3pm at the ground.

He also acknowledged the support of Coastline Transport Limited and Pastor Naka and the New Day Church.
