Fiji Roads Authority contractors Fulton Hogan Hiways are currently monitoring the Kings Road in Logani Village, Tailevu after it collapsed early yesterday morning.

FHH site supervisor August Williams said they are currently waiting on confirmation from the FRA on when to start the necessary works.

“This incident occurred early Sunday morning but luckily no one was injured or travelling on the road at that time.

“We have marked the damaged areas on the road and allocated the side of the road as a one way access for the people to cross over.

“I have also put up my team to control the traffic while FRA gives us a green signal to start the work on the road,” Mr Williams said.

He said the Fiji Electricity Authority was quick to respond as one of their electric posts was down in the landslide.

“One of FEA’s electric posts was down during the landslide but we had contacted FEA and they have managed to connect the electricity for the residents in the villages.

“They have managed to remove the broken electric wires so no live wire is left behind and we are requesting the members of the public to co-operate with us while we work on the road,” Mr Williams said.
