Fiji Gold Nasinu Netball Association (NNA) will receive an increased sponsorship of $15,000 for the 2017 season.

This was confirmed by Paradise Beverages group sales and marketing and trade relations manager Joe Rodan Snr.

He made the announcement during the 2016 NNA awards night at the Fiji Sports Council aquatic centre, Suva.

Association secretary Sainiana Ledua told SUNsports that moving forward is one of their key goals for next year.

“Picking up from all the little bits and pieces like player development, sports administrators and development programme,” she said.

Ledua said to help in the well running of the association they need to focus on umpires development as well.

“That is to help our umpires get qualified so that our players improve their performance. Another focus is on player development especially this year we had a lot of young talented under-17 and under-21 players. We will develop these girls to be our new look Fiji Gold Nasinu netball teams in the national championship.”

She pointed out that this year, saw the inclusion of a new team in their competition.

“We had a new inclusion into the weekly competition, Team Army which had women and men officers from the RFMF who played in our women’s and mixed competition.

“We also revived our mixed competition which was a social weekly competition where players form mix teams to play along in our normal women’s competition.”

Ledua said all this was done this year through the $8000 sponsorship from Pacific Beverages.

“The funds were used on development, running of our weekly competition to prepare us for tournaments we had participated it.

“The main focus of the association is for our players to enjoy while playing and also to get the community to be involved.

“Fiji Gold Nasinu Netball is looking for more women to come and play.

“This is for fun and fitness as well. We are calling out to each community to form their teams both men and women and they are welcome to join our Association in 2017.

“We will have so much to offer in terms of social and competitive netball.

“We will be having Friday night games of fun and enjoyment for all ages, so we invite them to come along and join us.”
