The Nadi football side have much to offer in the upcoming season.

After retaining the Pacific Cup on their home soil last month, Nadi have now set their long term goal of ending their 14-year drought by winning the 2017 Courts Inter District Championship (IDC).

Nadi Football Association president Navneeda Gounder reaffirmed their goal as they hunt for the elusive IDC title.

“Our senior players have worked very hard this season and I applaud them for their efforts,” Goundar told SUNsports yesterday.

He said this year had been a challenging one for them in terms of football development and at time they fielded their young players.

“The team also comprises of young players who are 17 years old and we are developing them at a very young age. We had many young players who were playing in the league like Afraz Ali who is a student of Nadi Muslim College, but we plan to work on them. Some other young players include Mataiasi Toga, Maki Nasova and Patrick Wise.”

Goundar said their players have taken a break and would be back early next year.

“We want to take a break since we really have a heavy schedule for 2017 especially when it comes to the IDC.”

Goundar said they are thankful to those who have been behind the success of team. He also thanked sponsors like Jack’s Handicraft and other co-sponsors as well.
