Leadership, innovation and creativity are no longer optional, but essential for sustainable and inclusive growth.

This was the strong message delivered by Investment Fiji  chief executive Godo Mueller- Teut during the 2016 Westpac Prime Minister’s International Business Awards.

Mr Mueller-Teut said the importance of innovation in any business model cannot be emphasised enough and it is the core of containing business success.

“Innovation in any business is fundamental to the growth of any venture therefore it is quite important that local business adapt inventive ways of doing business,” Mr. Mueller- Teut said.

With Government’s Buy Fijian Made Campaign, he said innovation would play a key role in making our locally made products competitive on global market.

Sponsors of Excellence in Innovation Award, the Ministry of Trade and Tourism says the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise (MSMEs) sector is also the catalyst for innovation and development of homegrown niche products and technologies.

Permanent Secretary for Industry, Trade and Tourism Shaheen Ali said the International Business Awards was a platform of recognising and encouraging MSMEs that are involved in innovation.
